MOZ ranking factors

When it comes to search engine optimization, we advise clients to primarily focus on creating quality content. Besides, naturally we observe the technical factors continuously. Google does not openly publish each and every factor that influences ranking, but expert search engine marketers steadily look for those technical parameters, which positively affect website ranking.

Moz.com is one of the market leading softwares, many international SEM specialists publish their experiences via their blog, therefore, highly increased international attention is drawn to these publications. Naturally we also follow the actual trends and experts' opinions.

Every year, moz.com publishes a famous survey about Google’s ranking factors. Let’s see the most important facts in 2015!

Moz distributed 2 types of surveys. One is based on correlation while the other is collected from expert research marketers' opinions. The correlation study examined 16,521 keywords and pulled the first ranked 50. 700,000 unique URL's were investigated in total. It also examined the connection between 170 factors and rankings.

What are we talking about exactly? The essence of correlation studies is to understand how a factor’s (e.g. a page’s URL Page Authority) value compares to the ranking. Considering we are talking about 700,000 URL's, statistical data shows quite an accurate picture of the connection between different factors and rankings.

The correlation is a number between -1 and 1. The closer the number is to 1, the closer the connection is. It is important to understand that there is not necessarily a causal coherence behind the correlation. But enough about methodology, let’s take a look at the most important elements!
